From the early
age of three or four, my parents saw me as an artist and provided
a never ending supply of crayons, glue and scissors to keep me
happy. My mom and I had several coloring books and we signed
our names to the pages we finished.
I still have them saved in my trunk.
One Christmas, I received an art set with oil pastels, watercolors,
brushes and lots of other interesting supplies.
When
I was about 8, I made my own studio in the closet of my bedroom
and pretended to be a "real" artist. Although
I have had lots of interests in life, art was a thread woven throughout
all of my years.
People have always fascinated me as well. The challenge
of capturing them on film created a new challenge for my artistic
side. Around age 10, my parents bought me a cheap camera with
110 film (for anyone that remembers that) and I immediately went
crazy taking photographs of everyone I knew. At 16, I took
my first photography course in high school and absolutely loved
everything about it. My art studies took me through Indiana Wesleyan
University where I received my teaching degree.
After teaching art in public schools for 13
years, and the birth of my first daughter, I realized that I had
been greatly missing my love for photography. My husband
bought me an old Pentax K1000, just like I used in high school,
and I got started again - this time to open my own studio and
begin my creative approach to life once more. I've now been
in business for six years, shoot all digital and love every moment
of it!!!
